Frame of my Mind

The Weekend’s Antics 10/02/09

I went back to Milton Keynes on Saturday. A World of Warcraft TCG tournament was being held in the city centre and one of the people I play the game with (hereafter known as Vorty) was coming from Derby to participate so we four guildmates decided to meet up for pizza and drinks afterwards.

Me and Ath arrived at Milton Keynes early on in the afternoon but it had been snowing ever since I was there earlier in the week (seriously!) so Justin was a little delayed in meeting us. We walked to the city centre taking routes around the back of some buildings to play in virgin snow. I dodged most of the snowballs that Justin threw at me, but then I fell and made a huge assprint in the snow anyway. It’s pretty hard to walk in when it comes up past your ankles. x_x

Snow Day! 02/02/09

So, as predicted, it snowed heavily (by UK standards) all night. We awoke to about two inches of it. OK, so not as much as was expected in London, but enough to go out and play in! We were out of the door by 10:40am. Me, dressed in a pair of Justin’s (extremely long) trousers. I hadn’t packed any of my own, you see. I only have a few pairs; I usually wear skirts. Like I said, the weather was fair when I arrived here.

Milton Keynes is one of the country’s ‘New Towns’ built in the late 1960s to 70s along with the likes of Telford and an expanded Northampton. The New Towns Act 1946 (later 1964) was an act which proposed the construction of meticulously planned complete towns to help with housing shortages in and around London after World War II. Since then, ‘New Towns’ have popped up all around the UK.
