I’m Katy, aka Macca. I’m a twenty-one year old who can’t seem to write decent self-introductions. I recently graduated from university where I studied computer science and I am now working from home (London) as a web applications developer. In my free time I love to read, play computer games, take photos and study foreign languages. I’m pretty average, for a geek.
My personality is one that people tend to either love or hate; I am rather opinionated and very passionate about the things I believe in–which range from right-wing politics to web standards. Despite my dislikability my significant other decided to have a go at sweeping me off my feet some time around a year ago, and we’ve been happy together ever since. I have concluded that the only reasonable solution to this predicament is to move in together (this September), marry (in a year) and have babies (in five).
Originally, I come from the south of England where I lived in a middle-class household with my mum, dad, younger brother and various pets over the years. Dorset is exceptionally beautiful, particularly if you go west, but I felt that living in the middle of the countryside wasn’t for me. I’ve lived in London on and off since September 2006 and have no intention of moving out any time soon, despite the fact I am paying double the rent I would anywhere else in the country. I briefly contemplated moving to Japan to teach English but after actually visiting the country for two weeks in April 2009 I decided that the idea was completely daft. Don’t get me wrong, I had fun, but it was too weird!
As a list of general favourites I love the movie Pulp Fiction. I can’t really decide on a favourite book but it would probably be The Kite Runner or The Time Traveller’s Wife. I listen to any music particularly from 60s (Beatles) to 90s (Blur) but hate new-age rock/metal (give me The Clash or Queen). I stuff my face with chocolates daily, and love to go out to eat Italian or Japanese food, though I hate Chinese. All Asian cuisine was not created equal. My favourite computer games are World of Warcraft, Silent Hill and the Final Fantasy series.
