Frame of my Mind

So, as predicted, it snowed heavily (by UK standards) all night. We awoke to about two inches of it. OK, so not as much as was expected in London, but enough to go out and play in! We were out of the door by 10:40am. Me, dressed in a pair of Justin’s (extremely long) trousers. I hadn’t packed any of my own, you see. I only have a few pairs; I usually wear skirts. Like I said, the weather was fair when I arrived here.

I almost fell over as I walked out of the house but we successfully made it to a very large patch of untouched snow over some grassland to the back of Justin’s house. Along the way, Justin made an attempt at a snow angel! With this much snow, a snowman was in order. We started off trying to roll a ball of snow, but it wasn’t co-operating. It was almost fine, comparable to icing sugar (sans the water) so it wasn’t sticking together very well. After some hard work we had the makings of a mound. Then we added a head. Then we added some boobs. Snow woman! I hereby introduce you to Blanche;

As for travel disruption, friends in London are telling me not to risk going back home – it is much heavier snowfall there. All short haul and some long haul flights from London airports are cancelled and many tube lines are closed and all but the Victoria line (which is entirely underground) are severely delayed. Many trains to/from the capital are also cancelled, and the majority are delayed. As I pointed out in comments from last post, England really isn’t used to snow so we’re never prepared, and don’t really have any effective methods of dealing with it. Everything comes to a standstill and every man and his dog will use it as an excuse to stay off work! Looks like I’m stuck here for the time being. I better think about washing some underwear. ;)
